Picture this: an eight-year-old girl in her grandma’s bathroom dyeing her Bratz Doll’s hair. Yes, it stained the bathroom. Our founder, Emillee, knew at a young age she was interested in all things beauty. Fast forward to high school graduation; she was convinced by others that there was no way she could make money in the beauty industry, and started college at Penn State as an engineering major. It didn’t take her long to realize she wasn’t on the right career path, and dropped out of college. She had her twin boys, Lincoln and Calvin, and started microblading while saving for esthetician school. In 2019, SWANKY was born. The original space was 300 sq ft with Emillee as the only employee. COVID hit, but that didn’t stop SWANKY from growing. Employee numbers quickly went from one to six, and a bigger space was needed. She just so happened to be in the right place at the right time and found the perfect space right here in Windber - and with a small coincidence that made it feel even more meant to be. The studio was originally a funeral home, and Emillee’s husband is a funeral director. 

 

It’s now 2023, and SWANKY has only grown in all ways possible - client numbers, employees, services, and more. We strive to bring EVERYONE the SWANKY experience: provide love and care beyond the in-spa services of skincare, waxing, and lashes. Our main objective is to help you understand your goals and provide the education needed to reach them with at-home-care steps and a custom treatment plan, all in a space that feels professional yet cozy and fun. We cannot wait to meet you with acceptance and excitement as soon as you walk in our studio.
